Go Full Sando
Create and export your customized reading list of Brandon Sanderson books.
How It Works
- The list on the left will show the books in publication order filtered by the drop-down selection. Click the red button at the bottom to export the list to PDF. The exported list will show what shows on the screen.
- The middle list (Scrap List) is all the books in the form of "kan-ban" cards. If you highlight the open book icon, this will be reflected on the exported list to show that you have already read the book.
- The list on the right (My List) is your playground. To add a book to this list, click and drag it from the Scrap List. If you're on mobile, click the "+" button. To remove a book from My List, click the "x" button on the card.
- To export the list to PDF, click the red button on the bottom of the list.
Why "Go Full Sando"
When I have an idea for a project, the first thing I do is give it a reference name. The purpose of this is so that when I make notes or to-do lists for the project, I can reference it and know which project I am referring to. It's more of a note-to-self more than anything. I name something in a way that when I see it the next day or week or month I can remember which thing I was talking about. Most of the time, this reference name does not end up being the name of the project at launch. So when I had this idea, I jotted down something like "Go Full Sando: kanban style app to build and export list of Brandon Sanderson books in reading order". The more I thought about it, the more I liked it. Plus, the dot com domain was available for it, which is a huge plus.
I also think it fits in nicely with the fandom phenomenon of Brandon Sanderson portmanteaus. If you've lurked the subreddit, you've likely seen some examples of this. You have the "sander shelf", the "sander case", the "sander corner", the "sander fiber arts", "sander fridge", "sander arm" (tattoo sleeve), and who can forget the "sander clause tree".
As you probably noticed, "GO FULL SANDO" is a choice in the drop-down. When you select this, it will show EVERY book Brandon Sanderson has listed. This includes all Cosmere, non-Cosmere, shorts, longs, the children's book, and even the early iteration of The Way of Kings (Prime).
I went back and forth on whether to include a litany of blog posts and social media content. This would give you the opportunity to set out on a journey to read everything Brandon Sanderson has ever written. I decided against it because the point of this site is to create a list of books to read and track your progress over time with a simple printout for a fridge or bulletin board.
Support
This nifty tool is completely free (of ads and paywall). I hope it inspires and encourages you on your journey to read more.
If you like the tool, it would go a long way and be much appreciated if you showed your support. All funds will go to keeping this project live and up to date.
I am also hoping to raise enough funds to surprise my daughter at her fifth grade graduation (on June 12th, 2026). Due to work, I have lived several states away for the better part of a year. It would mean so much to me if you could "buy me a coffee" in contribution to this effort.
